Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown: Friday, December 11, 2009 (4:00-7:00)

Host: Bob McCown
Guests: Roundtable with John Shannon, James Deacon and David Shoalts

Did someone in the first hour ask Bobcat if he ever cheated on his wife when he was on the road?? OK, maybe it's the callers that are the problem! How about someone actually check what the callers are calling about before they actually call in???

I agree with Bobcat on the spending that happens for the Olympics from the public coffers. This isn't a new opinion from Bobcat - he's maintained this for years. To clarify, it's not as much as a hesitation for giving "amateur" athletes public funding as much as it is asking amateur athletes to garner funding on their own first. I'm not sure what the reason is that Sportsnet is insisting that McCown and PTS go to Vancouver, but the only reason I can figure is to ensure that McCown stays in tow right in front of their eyes. If he's at the party, he won't complain as much as if he wasn't invited.

Hey Deacon, lighten up a bit! Your arms were folded the entire time you were on. Did that have anything to do with the above conversation?

McCown suggested that 20 years from now, we'll look back at the Tiger Woods story as the point where journalism changed. In my opinion, it wasn't the Tiger Woods story that changed the paradigm, it was OJ Simpson.

Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown: Monday, March 30, 2009

Host: Bob McCown
Round Table: Jim Kelley, Doug Smith

"Winning games after you have been eliminated from the playoffs, masks the warts that got you eliminated in the first place"…sound familiar Sens fans?? It's like Bob McCown was speaking directly to us, eh?

Basketball and Chris Bosh - still to far to think about whether he'll be staying.

Tiger Woods - the best, and no one touches him, past, present or future.

Japan/China baseball > American baseball - I think I have to download Japan/China playing in order to see if this is true.

Emails I've been getting at bobcat_idol@hotmail.com:
"Great site…have you heard/seen fadoo? What do you think about it?"
I think "Fadoo.ca" is a work in progress. It's frustrating not to be able to discuss Prime Time Sports on it. Other than Bob McCown's opinion, the other posters haven't intrigued me in the least

"Will you keep this site up now that the Fadoo is on?"
Not sure. We'll see.

"Why did you take the comments off?"
Should I keep them on?

Keep the emails coming at bobcat_idol@hotmail.com

Co-Host: Jim Kelley

Got a comment to provide my feedback instead of a full summary of the show. Will try that today.

The comments on Phoenix relocating can't help but make me look at how Bettman saved the Sens. In the late-90s (or so), the financial problems the Sens were having were massive. I am convinced that if it weren't for Bettman, the Sens would be gone. Doesn't mean I love the man, but his stubborness allowed only for a guy like Melnyk to come forward as opposed to a Balsille-wannabe shipping this town out of town. That in addition to the Sens competitiveness at the same time really ensured that this team will be in Ottawa for the long haul (or at least until Melnyk runs out of cash - Sens fans, repeat after me - GO ECONOMY GO!!!)

Some more discussion on Tiger Woods returning and how the marketing is really amped . Here are the commercials the Boys were talking about:
