Not sure what happened to Agassi being on Prime Time Sports today, as advertised and instead being moved to Friday. Perhaps the scheduling conflict had something to do with Agassi being in New York doing Letterman??

Due to Burke/Hargrove on Thursday, and Agassi on Friday the roundtable occurred today, on a Wednesday. ..and if McCown wasn't in a bad mood because of this, he certainly was when he tore Shoalts a new one ("you weren't late for Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday when I saw your fat face on there!!!") Ohhh, SNAP!

Brunt/Shoalts took a big time run at Gretzky commenting that his appearance and circus surrounding the Hockey Hall of Fame induction was well orchestrated by Gretz himself. For guys like Brunt to continue their insistence that Gretzky is a master manipulator, really does challenge the angelic notion Number 99 has in this country. The backlash Brunt took the last time around with his article challenging Gretzky was significant. Having said this, Brunt (and Shoalts) must be absolutely certain in their criticism to continue the attacks.

I love how Maclean was slagged on the show. As Shoalts pointed out, one GM told him "we forgive one mistake, but he'd better not make any more." The hatred between McCown and Maclean is hot as ever, despite Maclean coming on Hockey Central the day after the 'incident' saying life was good and he and McCown were on good terms.

Jordan is a world class a-hole. Yep, it will be tough for your kids to follow your footsteps, but I find it impossible to think that they will be less humble.

It will be interesting to hear what the NHL will say to Melnyk's assertion that NHL teams have veto power over territorial rights. I wonder if MacLeans name will come up??

McCown to open the Roundtable: "We did our best but I must confess failed miserably in trying to ascertain why Paul Kelly was fired. After Buzz Hargrove, Paul Kelly, Ian Penny all showed up, we got nothing and apologize for the waste of time to our listeners."

Say what you want about Bobcat, he really does value his listeners time. My biggest gripe is, all of these players knew they *had* to come on Prime Time Sports. I personally feel they used the show to save face and McCown needs to evaluate these players in the middle of an interview and hang up on guests that are not forthcoming with information. If not, those who feel like "using" Prime Time Sports as an avenue to "show face" will continue to do so without answering the questions that need to be answered.

A tale of two Bobs today.

The good - calling out Rogers Management for not taking a leadership position in the current predicament of the Jays. It's really ballsy (not to be confused with Balsillie) to call out your management (even if they are really higher-up, literally) on air. Bob has got nowhere to hide and has never held back firing at Rogers.

The ugly - Bobcat letting Erin Andrews she had nothing to worry about regarding the leaked photos of her, suggesting her body wasn't anything to be ashamed about. I was trying to think why Bob would have such a position, and if it was his daughter that was in a similar predicament, if he would give her the same advice.

Bob, when will you learn that Ormsby's bite is worse than her bark! You could hear McCown recant when he said that the reason the leading candidate for the Jays GM role didn't come to Toronto as the wife didn't want to be here. "Always blame it on the wife, eh? That damn Janet
Gretzky!!" quipped Mary. My long-time crush on Mary Ormsby continues!

All-Star games do NOT get "ignored" by Prime Time. It's the same discussion every time..."how can it be improved?"..."wasn't it great the way it was?" Bobcat also "ignores" soccer. The difference? Soccer is never talked about, but all-star games (nhl, nba, nfl, mlb) are discussed every couple of months. If it isn't relevant, and you hate it as we all do, then kill the discussion!!

Bobcat can raise 100 million to help fund an NCAA team coming to southern Ontario? What's wrong with this picture - Bobcat gets excited by the potential of bringing the NCAA to Ontario but things the NFL is a pipedream?

Let's get June 9th already to decide what the next step is for the Coyotes issue. Whatever is the result, you know there will be appeals and this will drag through the courts, but at least it's a new chapter. I'm getting tired of being on the same page!!

If Bobcat's assertion is that the success of the Wings, while indeed talented and possessing intelligent management, has to do as much with 'luck' as anything, then do the Ottawa Senators also have the same 'luck' as a backdrop for their lack of playoff success?

McCown continues his verbal assault on Bettman. His handling of Phoenix, Atlanta and Tampa Bay were all reason for McCown's ire this time around.

A-Roid IS the most hated man in professional sport. Without question.

We all long for a time when watching our heroes in Baseball wasn't about sex, drugs and rock 'n roll, but more about skill, heart and desire. When I think about the '85 Jays, I must confess it evokes memories of overcoming massive odds and past disappointments. It brings up memories of the first sports playoffs I saw. Seeing George bell grab onto that ball in left field to clinch the AL East Title will be etched in my mind forever.

Baseball today haven't turned us into sceptics…they have turned us into sport-focused only, without regard to 'how' they got there. Being sceptical is too painful. It's just easier to bury our heads in the sand.

The name of the book mentioned in the first segment is called "Old City Hall", not "City Hall" (no sponsored links either.)

McCown is working on two books that intrigue the heck out of me:
- one for the fall 2009 (McCown hasn't started yet) - a book regarding the last 20 years of Prime Time Sports. REALLY interested in this, but as the big guy hasn't started anything and the roundtable didn't know anything about it.
- one for the fall 2010 (McCown to write with David Naylor)

I'm a big time fan of McCown's previous book, The 100 Greatest Hockey Arguments. I'm pretty sure that Brunt had some sort of encouragement for Bobcat to do the book in the first place. I also think that McCown was a bit surprised by the reaction of the book. What I wasn't a big fan of was the re-release of the book and the ability to get an autographed copy for the SECOND version of the book. I bought the first version of the book as a die hard Prime Time Sports fan, and would have gladly forked over the cash if an autographed copy was available the first time around. When the second version came out, it seemed like a cheap cash grab to me. Ah well, 'tis the world of publishing and Bob's "got mouths to feed". This definitely won't take away from my thirst for McCown related media including literature.

A week or so ago, a cryptic comment was made here by 'someone' perhaps posing to be Bobcat. I held onto a bit of hope that perhaps it was McCown, but McCown said on the show today, "there's no danger of me reading someone else's blogs on the internet. Unless they are on my site, in which case I read all of them, and they are excellent." *sigh* Ah well, Bobcat will hopefully find this site one day.

Kate Jett - va-va-voom Bobcat?

When it comes to Bettman, both Brunt and McCown have been on the same page. Brunt seemed to divert from this when he disagreed with McCown on bringing another NHL team to Toronto, especially with regards to Bettman's handling of the Balsillie situation. Brunt surprised me (and I'm sure McCown) by taking Bettman's side - "(Bob) I think you make it way to personal. You make it sound like he's (Bettman's) omnipotent, like he's this dictator running the league. He's not. I think he's trying to save the owners butts, legally. I don't think he's sitting there casting lightning bolts at people (like Balsillie)." McCown retorted, "I'm quite comfortable that it was personal (at Balsillie)." There is no question that McCown has inside information from the Ballsille camp, if not the Balsillie himself.

Bouwmeester at 7 million? I'd do it. In McCown's book "McCown's Law: The 100 Greatest Hockey Arguments", he stated that a defenceman is the most important position in the game - greater than forward or (surprisingly) goalie. You can count the defenceman in the NHL that are at the level of Bouwmeester on one hand.

Brunt's birthday today? Wow! "It's miraculous that you made it this far", quipped Bobcat.

Ovechkin was over the line on his 50th goal...no question. I am completely with McCown on this one. Genuine emotion - hell yes. Contrived antics - hell no. How many kids will be watching this thinking this is what they should do? Are going to be in an era that one player will try to out-do the other, like wide receivers do in football. The NHL won't fine/suspend/legislate this move, but I guarantee they will within a year if this stuff continues.

Other than the insane curling shot from a couple of weeks ago, I don't really have a big interest in curling, so there wasn't anything of particular note in the first segment with Kevin Martin. Even with these guys playing out of their mind, I just can't get into curling...maybe need to drink more!?!?

Gord Kirke and friends came in to chat about their recent trip to Afghanistan. This is one of the interviews that a summary would be grossly unfair. Listen to it on your own and say a prayer for those who daily sacrifice their lives for the benefit of our country and those in the communities in which they serve. "The soldiers want us to care, they need us to care, and not to be forgotten" - Allan Frew.

A touching intro by Kirke who just returned from Kandahar with NHL stars, and Canadian celebrities. Another earth shattering revelation this week - Bob McCown and Alan Frew from Glass Tiger are 'buds'…another who knew moment!

The boys discussed the World Baseball Championship in the first segment. If I'm Rogers, I spend the extra dough to get a more competitive team asap. At least spend money to bringing in someone brighter than non-productive, pencil necked tool that is JP.

Interesting discussion on Goaltending. McCown pondered, "Stanley cups are certainly a function of the team you have in front of you." Man, the Sens wished that were true Bobcat!!
